TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

Larkhall Thistle will be facing English sides Chesterfield FC Academy and Chalfont Saints, and will also be facing Dutch side Odiliapeel Braks Groep in Pool C of the under-14 section. Chesterfield have only lost 1 match this season, sitting in 2nd place in the North Derbyshire Football League. Fellow countrymen Chalfon Saints sit 2nd in the Wycombe and South Bucks Minor Football League, having only lost 3 games all season. Odiliapeel Braks Groep have been more of a mixed bag, only having won 4 out of their 18 games this season. Our fixtures all take place tomorrow- Larkhall v Chesterfield 09:05 (UK), Larkhall v Odiliapeel 10:15 (UK), Larkhall v Chalfont 11:25 (UK).

The boys have arrived in Holland and are in great spirits ahead of the tournament.

With a strong start to proceedings, we drew 0-0 with eventual group winners Chalfont Saints, followed that up with a comprehensive 4-0 victory against Odiliapeel Braks Groep and finished with another 0-0 draw against Chesterfield FC. We finish Pool C in 3rd place due to goal difference and return tomorrow to compete in the plate.

DAY 2 PREVIEW

As day 2 of the Holland Easter Open gets underway here’s a reminder of what’s to come…

After an agonising exit on goal difference yesterday, we just missed out on cup qualification but we drop into another group still plenty more to play for! First up is Aldershot Town Academy from England. Then we will face Danish side, Holbæk B&I before finishing the group with an all Scottish tie against Milngavie FC.

FIRST DEFEAT

We take our first defeat of the tournament, losing 2-0 in a hard-fought encounter with Aldershot Town.

LUCK NOT ON OUR SIDE

It’s another loss, this time by the narrowing of margins falling 1-0 to the Danes.

We finish our weekend on a high with a well-earned 6-0 win over our Scottish rivals.

A very memorable weekend for us, as we managed 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses across both days, eventually finishing 3rd in the 9-12 ranking group.
